DESIGN PROCESS

The first step, which is unique to Woodard & Associates, is a personal tutorial conducted by Carol Woodard. You will be guided on a tour of the San Francisco Designer Showrooms, at which time your preferences in style, color, texture, and taste will be revealed, as well as new design options. All of the information that is learned in the tutorial will be used to begin defining the master plan. Additionally, personal relationships are developed, which is essential for a successful and enjoyable design project.

Next, we start by determining goals and budgets, developing a plan / timetable, and designing a strategy for achieving them. Woodard & Associates knows that your time is valuable and that you want the finest your money can buy.

If remodeling is required, you may wish to bring in your own architects and contractors to perform the work. However, Woodard & Associates can refer you to many respected craftsmen who are part of their team and who can give the same care and attention to detail that Woodard & Associates provides. Upon your request, you may make arrangements to have Woodard & Associates oversee contracted installation and construction.

FEE STRUCTURE

Fee structures will be determined by the particular requirements of individual projects. During the initial one-hour complimentary meeting, pay arrangements are reviewed and a letter of agreement is signed. Typically, compensation to Woodard & Associates, inc. includes a base hourly design fee in addition to the cost plus system of billing for furnishings and materials. This structure accounts for research, design time, consulting and project management. Woodard & Associates' pledge is to leave clients knowing that they received more than their money's worth.

TEAM REMODELING

  1. What is Team Remodeling?
It is a remodeling approach which combines the skills of several different independent professionals who have established a rapport which enables them to provide a complete and cohesive remodeling solution to the customer.
  2. Why should I use the Teamwork Approach when remodeling? Won't it cost more?
Many remodeling projects require extensive knowledge and skills from several different professionals. A team having these specialized skills and an abundance of experience reduces the research time and, therefore, the cost needed to solve specific problems. With a larger pool of knowledge to draw from, a team can more efficiently and effectively meet client needs--project quality, budget, and completion time management.
  3. How do I select a team?
Start with one individual who is a practiced team player and has skills you know you will need for your remodel. It can be someone you already know or someone who has been recommended to you by friends, relatives, or a trade association. Once this first team member has been interviewed and selected, he or she will assist you with the selection of the remaining team members needed for your project.
  4. How will I know which team members I need for my project?
Every project is different. The types and number of professional skills needed varies with each remodel. After contacting the first team member, get to meet and interact with potential team members--you will want to know what role each plays and why each should be a part of your team.
  5. What are the skills and responsibilities of the various team members?
The architect works with you to understand and create your vision for your house, works with the local planning agencies, develops designs and produces working drawings for City approval and from which the general contractor can then build.
